Biography:
Since 1962, Burt Levitsky has been painting in oils on a consistent basis. The artist follows traditional academy methods that date back to the Renaisssance Era. His highly realistic style incorporates genres including figures, portraits, still lifes, and largely urban landscapes with interacting figures. Although mostly self-taght, delving deeply into Old Master classical realism, he did study at the Frank Reilly School of Art, the Art Students League, and the School of Visual Arts in New York City in the early 1960s. brushstrokes except in the very light areas, and multiple glazing applications, the paintings take on a smooth luminous quality. His use of chiaroscuro, or high contrast of dark and light values, creates a powerful impact on the viewer.
