Stella By Barlight is a five-piece combo featuring the clear and heartfelt vocals of Stella D'Oro. Backed by upright bass, piano or guitar, drums, and saxophone, Stella loves to keep the audience on their feet. Miss D'Oro has been singing professionally for the past 8 years and performed in blues and Western Swing bands before deciding she loves jazz standards most of all. Stella is highly influenced by the late, greats Anita O'Day, June Christy, and Dean Martin. Being a first-generation Italian-American, she celebrates her heritage by performing Italian favorites ("Come Back to Sorrento," "Mambo Italiano," and "That's Amore" to name a few). The band is based in Santa Cruz, California and plays frequently at local venues. Check out the calendar for more details.
